Our One Half Pound Glass Honey Jars are more than just a vessel for golden sweetness; they’re faithful replicas of the 1880s Muth Jar, the very first bottle designed exclusively for honey. Filled with nectar from our own backyard hives in Huntsville, Alabama, and sealed with wax just as it was over a century ago, each jar blends timeless tradition with the unmistakable flavor of local harvest. A hemp string is wound around the cork, allowing for easy opening and releasing the wax seal.

• The Bottle That Made Honey History
Our jar is a faithful replica of the late-19th-century Muth honey bottle—credited to Cincinnati apiarist and entrepreneur Charles F. Muth. Muth developed the square, honey-specific jar in the early 1880s (likely first appearing between 1879–1883), and it quickly became the beekeeper’s standard.

• Iconic Details, Recreated
Just like the originals, our replica features the classic square silhouette and the vintage beekeeping motif that made “Muth jars” instantly recognizable on grocers’ shelves more than a century ago.

• As Local As It Gets
Every bottle is filled with honey from our own backyard in Huntsville, Alabama—truly neighborhood nectar—just a stone’s throw from the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.

• Sealed the Old-World Way
Each bottle is hand-sealed with wax, honoring the way fine honey was packaged over a hundred years ago—practical, beautiful, and decidedly timeless.

• Vintage Labels, Days-Gone-By Charm
Our labels are styled in the spirit of late-1800s packaging—ornamental type, restrained palettes, and heritage layout—so your jar looks like it stepped out of a well-kept general store.

• Perfect Half-Pound Size
A generous 8 oz (½ lb)—substantial for gifting, tasting flights, or pride of place on the kitchen shelf.

• A Piece of Living History
From the jar’s provenance to the wax seal, every element connects today’s pour to America’s early beekeeping era—when Muth’s innovations (and even his honey extractor) helped shape modern apiculture.
